Verka Sangrur Dairy

The Sangrur Distt. Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Limited, Sangrur was registered in the year 1973 under the Punjab Co-op. Societies Act, 1961. The Union started collection of milk through societies in 1974. The composite Milk Plant, Sangrur under the control of Milk Union, Sangrur was established in 1985 with Milk Processing/Milk Handling capacity of 1.30 lac litres per day. The Plant has manufacturing capacity of 9 M.T. SMP and 6 M.Ts. of ghee/day.

As on April.2020 there are 410 functional Milk Producers’ Co-operative Societies & 165 Nos. of dairy farmers are supplying 140000 ltrs.of milk to union per day. Fresh milk is procured directly from producers through village level societies two times in a day morning & evening.

The major quantity of milk being purchased at this plant is used to manufacture SMP & Ghee apart from this plant is supplying liquid packed milk in the cities & towns situated in the milkshed area of this union to the consumers.Further fresh milk products Paneer, Curd, Plain Lassi, Spicy lassi,Kheer & milk cake etc. are also manufactured  & supplied in the milkshed area. Moreover  Panjiri for Aganwari is also manufactured & being supplied to the district of Sangrur,Barnala,Shiri Fathegarh Sahib & Patiala.

As on date, Sangrur dairy is supplying Milk, fresh Milk Products and other bottled cum tetrapack products to the following reputed Institutions in Sangrur area i.e. Civil Hospital Sangrur, Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Saint Longowal Institute, Mastuana Sahib, Sangrur Jail, Pingalwada Sangrur, Bhai Gurdas College, Jawahar navodaya Vidyala, Akal Degree Women’s College, Airforce Barnala, Dental College Sunam, District Jail Barnala, Civil Hospital Barnala, IRB – Ladda Kothi, KRBL Dhuri, Malerkotla Jail, Arihant Mills Malerkotla, GGS Public School, Hira Singh Bhatthal College, Indian Acrylics Ltd & Pepsico Holdings Pvt. Ltd., Channo and many other reputed institutions.
